Speaker John Boehner gave Team Obama a big Christmas gift: bragging rights to a so-called “tax cut.”
The payroll tax cut extension is a stupid as sucking the air out of a life raft. The money being “saved” by the taxpayer is supposed to be used to fund Social Security. The problem is, Social Security’s insolvent. By 2085 it will be $ 7.9 TRILLION short.
Oh, but wait! The money that’s not going into your Social Security account will be made up via a new fee placed on each new mortgage. Brilliant–the idiots in Washington D.C. are going to make it even more challenging to do a refi or purchase a property! The very sector of the economy that is in crisis is being dinged by a bunch of dummies.
Boehner stepped right into Obama’s devious trap. Now the president can tell America that he gave them a tax cut. And he’s claiming it’s a $40 a week cut, which is a total lie. The only way the “cut” is worth $40 per week is if you are making $106,800 per year.
Oh, and one more moronic element to this plan: Obama has to make a “quick decision” on the Keystone Pipeline. That will obviously translate to a quick, “No.”
And, to top it all off, this payroll tax cut extension lasts only two months. So, come February we’ll be right back at it.
Thanks for nothing, Speaker Boehner. You need to be fired.
