As a Senator, one of the few pieces of legislation sponsored by Barack Obama was the Global Poverty Act. The Act would require the U.S. achieve specific and measurable goals consistent with the United Nations Millennium Resolution, including, “mobilizing and leveraging the participation of businesses and public-private partnerships; [and] coordinating the goal of poverty reduction.”
The goal was create a system of fees to collect and give $75 billion a year to the world’s poor.
Barack never got his wish, as the bill went nowhere, but given a second term, might he use the power of his Executive Order pen…?
