Faith, Family, Freedom…
“For the 20-years I was on the ground-breaking local talk radio station, KSFO in San Francisco, I peppered my program with my faith in Jesus as Lord. That saving faith shaped my opinions of the importance of family and freedom. Indeed, my faith caused my wife and I to expand our family via adoption, and my yearning for freedom caused me to hold fast to the credo of ‘Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness,’ as articulated by Americas’ founding fathers.
“Am I a perfect man? Have I said some things that have been incorrect, off base, offensive, or even hurtful. Yes. Talking live, unfiltered, on the air for four hours a day certainly made such errors possible. But more importantly, such failures are the result of my sinful nature.
“Ever since I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins and heal my messed-up and hurting heart (when I was 21), He has been in the process of making me whole. It’s taken a long time because I’m a stubborn guy, but He has been faithful to allow me another chance, after another chance to get things right.
“Now that I’m done with traditional radio (and no longer having to start my workday at 3AM) my podcast, Brian Sussman Show: Faith, Family Freedom, is able to focus on, and take hold of, the words of the apostle Paul (or Saint Paul as some prefer) in the New Testament’s book of Ephesians, chapter 4, verses 11 through 16 (I will highlight the words that really hit home with me)
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
