“Pagan” Receives Doctorate in Theology

The Swedish climate activist, Greta Thunberg, has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the Theology Faculty of the University of Helsinki.

The reason why she received the award is because “she has given us all a task that extends beyond our everyday choices through her actions”, according to a state from the the faculty, referring to Thunberg’s actions against climate change.

What is most interesting is the fact that young Greta refers to herself as a “pagan.”

Why are so many drawn to climate change?

Because they do not believe in the believe God of Creation, thus they need to fill that void.

Climate has become the new religion, it is a worship of Mother Earth. Likely this is why the World Economic Forum has it’s GAEA campaign–Gaea (or Gaia) is Greek for Mother Earth, and in Greek mythology Mother Earth was a ruthless god indeed.

And in the green church you even have ‘prophets’, like David Attenborough and Paul Ehrlich, and ‘child saints’, like Greta Thunberg.

Without God, the future depends entirely on man.  It is understandable then that there is great fear about the climate.”

While Christians need not worry about the future of the earth, that doesn’t give us license to trash the planet either. God is the ruler of the world. He created the earth, did not abandon it, and He continues to care for it.  Jesus says in Matthew 6: “Be not anxious for your life, what you shall eat and what you shall drink, nor for your body, wherewith ye shall be clothed…Behold the birds of the air, they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them; do you not greatly exceed them?”

We need discernment and truth when it comes to the plans to mitigate climate change–both real and imagined.
