A Change of Purpose

Many have asked why I have not posted a fresh article on this website for months?

The answer is simple: I have been in mourning for my country and reevaluating my purpose.  I fear that as a society we’ve crossed a bridge too far and have entered a sphere in which a multitude of nations before us have tumbled.  The values, principles, and spirit that made the United States unique are rapidly slipping away. As a radio host, author, and speaker I’ve been doing everything possible in my personal effort to save this country from the clutches of tyranny and eventual destruction.

Now I am forced to ask the question, with the exception of the global warming debate, are any of my efforts really moving the needle?

I don’t think so.

Allow me to state that there is nothing wrong with our form of government, however for decades we have been electing corrupt individuals into positions of great authority. In turn those debased characters have appointed and hired legions of bureaucrats who also lack integrity. The result is our once pure representative republic has been fouled and along with it the social fabric required to maintain a civil society rooted in principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The situation we find ourselves in is hardly exclusive. History is the monotonous account of how governments flourish only to be consumed with pomp and pride.  Those governments have all been brought to ruin because of lawlessness, incivility and corruption. As George Washington and several of our nations’ founders warned, pillars of morality and virtue must support the American system of government, otherwise it too will fail.

Sadly, those pillars have been smashed and I believe we’re at the precipice of failure.  I am convinced our only hope now is not to be found in the political arena—it’s in the spiritual. The good news is such revivals, or “Great Awakenings” as historians refer to them, have spared this country in the past.

The first Great Awakening occurred from 1730 to 1760. It was a spiritual renewal that swept the American Colonies, particularly New England.  It witnessed hundreds of thousands of people previously without faith—or with nominal faith—enthusiastically declare a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. This revival provided the backbone for victory against the British King’s war machine thus establishing American independence.

A second Great Awakening took place in the early 1800s, paving the way for the abolition of slavery, care for the handicapped, temperance, and women’s suffrage.  The second Awakening continued into the Civil War and provided great healing to an otherwise broken nation.

Will we see another such awakening in our time? Not only do I pray that be the case, but I also am actively giving all that I’m able to further the cause.  In fact this is where I believe I can help “move the needle.”

You see for the last several years I’ve been meeting one on one with a variety of people who are in great need. Some have experienced indescribable loss. Others have plenty of material possessions and yet are empty inside.  Some wrestle with addiction. They’re from dysfunctional families; they’re lonely, bummed out, worn out, out of work, and unloved. Some are Republicans, some Democrats, and some don’t give a damn. But they all need what I know to be true: that there is a God in Heaven who loves them, is for them, and can replace their emptiness with joy.  These folks do not represent an anomalous minority. Sadly they are a growing majority and they need to be reached and returned to wholeness.

So what will be the signs of my change of purpose?

For starters, I’m not using this website for anything political. Instead posts on BrianSussman.com will be dedicated to encouraging others by proclaiming the Good News.  Secondly, I am not doing any original posts on my environmental websites, Climategate.com and Eco-Tyranny.com.  While I consider my work to have been victorious in that arena, I will occasionally post the writings of others who want to continue to bring to light the activities of various eco-hucksters.

I will also not be presenting in-person political speeches (except for the few that remain on my calendar).  The four hours I spend on the radio each day is enough political speechifying. However if you’ll allow me the opportunity to openly share my faith, making that the central purpose of my talk, I will certainly consider the offer.  In the meantime I will continue to use my Twitter and Facebook accounts to highlight key political issues.

And please note: I no longer represent any political party.  I will only support candidates that have a consistent track record of integrity, and causes that align with my worldview.

I’ve always been a man of conviction. I don’t act on emotion but instead respond according to God’s call.  These are dark times and they’re getting darker; whatever the future holds for me I’m ready.

Allow me to close with a portion of Biblical scripture that seems to be motivating everything I’m doing these days:

“And do this, understanding the present time: the hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
St. Paul, the book of Romans, chapter 13, verses 11 and 12.

Thank you for this post. My husband and I are feeling and thinking the same thing. We pray daily for revival for the nation and a renewal for His own. How can we possibly ask God to bless us when we have pushed Him out of everything and everywhere and flaunt our sinful ways. He so dearly loves us and we break His heart. My prayer is we turn to Him and honor Him in all we do.

Beautiful sentiments Brian. I too, fear for my country and know that it’s only salvation is in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanks for being an encouragement to all of us and may richly bless your efforts, my brother!

My Dear Friend, welcome. If you remember our discussion a year or so ago in which I shared with you the same resolve I can say that I am overjoyed at your decision today. The fight was personal as well as corporate and demanded our all but what you said is truth, we have passed the point of no return and for the exception of divine intervention America is lost.
Our fight is not between flesh and blood but against the spiritual rulers of darkness. The great blue/red divide has cost us our unity as the designers of this oligarchy continue to add to their own wealth and power at the expense of a United America. Our media is owned by a single political ideology as is our education system from university level to primary school. I watched a video of a man getting signatures on an Oceanside CA, pier in which people gladly signed to fund a police state modeled after Nazi Germany without even asking a question. We live in a country of lemmings and fools with the emotional stability of nitro glycerin in a bounce house and the morality of Bill Clinton in a cat house all with their hands out demanding that they get what is coming to them. God help them if they do, God help us all.
In me you have a friend, a colleague and a fellow warrior in Christ. I look forward to speaking with you again soon,

    In His Love

    Brian,
I wish you well on this change. I hope you also turn to music. You might also check out my song “When Tomorrow Comes”, it might resonate with your thoughts on this subject.

Here is a link to the song (no charge, no registration)

    Brian,

I am a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Every Sunday we petition God :

    Deacon:
For our country, the president, and all those in public service, let us pray to the Lord.
    People:
    Lord, have mercy.

When all is said and done, what counts is our relationship with God. The United States of America has been called “the great experiment”. Americans just simply need to see the value and the sacrifices by those before us.

    Brian,

I wish you well and I believe what you say is true. I have honestly quit listening to your show over the last couple of months as you have shifted to more of an entertainment format. I believe this change is somewhat due to the owners of KSFO. One must look at the biblical example for a sinful city , that being Sodom and Gomorough . They were destroyed because there were less than 10 righteous people in their city. Are there more than 10 righteous people in the bay area? Of course there are. We are not beyond redemption but we are on a dangerous slide and only God can redeem us from ourselves.

I’m with you Brian. The pain and sadness of watching our country, and also our beautiful state of California, squandered away is intense. We were given an amazing gift to live in the times of freedom under the constitution of the US which was (is) a great experiment. Based on the cycles of history, it should be no surprise, but I am still shocked at how quickly it is sliding away. But we have a great hope. This is our current home, but we look forward to another. See the following online summer talks & papers for a provocative and interesting discussion about following Jesus, our only Lord and Savior, as some anticipate difficult times to come (from Gutenberg College in Eugene Oregon) http://blog.gutenberg.edu/2013/summer-institute-2013-mp3s-papers/.

I am especially sad for the WWII vets and the elderly folks who cannot fathom what we are seeing. It’s most amazing to me that the majority of our fellow citizens are totally unaware and oblivious to what is being lost. I’ve been your radio fan since the beginning and will continue to enjoy your voice and comments every morning. I pray for your strength and bravery in continuing to do so.
    Another follower of Christ,
    Teri

Brian, my friend, you are echoing the same sentiments I am hearing from many fellow believers. Michael and I have been feeling the same thing for quite awhile. Our prayer is for revival in our churches (so many are apostate) and for a great spiritual awakening in our society as a whole. I will continue to vote in every election, as I feel it is a moral responsibility to do so, but our hope is NOT in the political system. No solution will come from that quarter. The only hope is a spiritual turnaround. We are with you!

  9. Kirsten Devlin says

    Brian,
I truly believe the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few! I am very excited for you to use the platform God has given you to speak into places others may not have the opportunity to. I agree that politics will always play a role in society, but a society that has lost it’s foundation cannot be fixed by people trying harder, but by believing that a sovereign God is still in control and by surrendering to His will alone. We have lost sight of what makes our country great, although there are glimpses, the apathy in our collective dedication to truth has left us without a foundation. I am looking forward to reading more of your thoughts.

  10. Michael S says

Brian, As a man of God I cannot believe anything else will do in this stage of the game. Americans are at the cross road of action or the road of destruction. The general public has lost faith in our Government that is to the representatives that they put in office. The only direction that anyone can 100% count on is our GOD and i will pray that more people put there faith in HIM than in our elected Government Representatives. The gate is wide but the path narrow the reward is worth the trial and hardship to finish the race. God be with you on your faithful journey.

    Jesus Saves

    Brian:
Over a decade ago, I believe I may have commented that you’re at heart a pastor and teacher. 🙂 Cheers to the lack of party affiliation. Welcome, the water is fine.

Brian ur spot on. The spirit world where exclusively the battles take place manifesting results here in the physical. Its not the sting of death nor flesh & blood, not even satan! What a loser that clown is. The hearts of men in darkness is where the love and light of life must be directed which comes only from Jesus the radical. Yes radical! When you raise someone from the dead turn fishes and bread into a feast your a radical. YES I pilgrim am too a radical. God Bless All.

  13. Richard Schennberg says

You may feel that you have let down Constitutional Libertarian Conservatives, by not making a dent in California’s left-wing Fascism. However, you and other talk show hosts and web site journalists have kept the USA from turning into the IV Reich, Without opposition, the current administration would be doing more to help the Muslim Brotherhood massacre Christians in more countries than they already are. Christians in Egypt and Jews in Israel have almost lost hope in America. People who oppose left-wing extremism and Islamist terrorism are the only hope of oppressed people around the world. Please continue to do your best to turn Americans back to loving freedom and to turn against the Statist pro-terrorist regime.

  14. Kent says

Thanks for sharing your heart on this, Brian; we suppose you’ve had it under consideration for a long while. We always need to evaluate what we’re doing with whatever time we have remaining. Ultimately the real issues are based in the spiritual. We don’t know what course this will put you on but Beverly and I remain fans of Suss!

  15. Jennifer Barney says

Hi Brian: it’s true “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit says The LORD” we too pray to the Lord of the harvest to send workers into his field … watching events unfurl has sent me diving back into the book of revelation to get perspective – praise God he’s in control & he’s given us His marching orders

  16. Chris P says

There are no gods – why does a supposed adult like you believe in this fiction? Or is it because nobody will listen to your right wing views unless you say you believe.
